BLOOMINGTON - The city of Bloomington is eying a major land purchase, and will make a return to its old policy on trash collection.

Bloomington has been running a pilot program not to collect trash on holidays, as a way to save money, but with concerns about employee safety, and costs, the city has decided 8-0 that it will collect on all holidays except Christmas.

The city is also looking at purchasing the old Sugar Creek Packing Plant for $250,000 as a way to create more parking for the library and public works. Council passed it on Monday 5 to 3, on the condition that the Illinois EPA takes no further action on it.
