BLOOMINGTON - City council finally looked at its hotel feasibility study on Monday, about one month later than originally planned.

Mayor Tari Renner says a large hotel, which could now be by a new Route 66 Visitors’ Center, could help revitalize the whole city.

But the study indicates there is still a large gap of about $17-$18 million between what the property is worth and what it would bring in. Now, it's up to the council to decide if the city should subsidize it with taxes, or even move forward with the project.
