John Grabo who took over as CEO of the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development in January, stepped down Monday morning.
Grabo told the board he was leaving for family reasons. He moved here from Arizona, while his family remained there to finish the school year.
"It came as a surprise, but last week John and I had a confidential conversation. He explained the reasons for his need to leave and I fully support them and wish him nothing but the best in the future,” said Jay Groves, spokesman for the Bloomington-Normal economic development council.
The EDC will form an executive committee to help with the search. There’s no timeline for when it wants to have a replacement named. Grabo's last day will be Aug. 22.
