BLOOMINGTON - A Bloomington woman takes home a big honor from Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Brittin Haury has been the big sister for Tariah James since June of 2011. The two have been inseparable since then, and while working together, James has seen her grades go up and her world widened.

They've focused on a lot of fun activities, but have also volunteered and focused on academic success. It's an experience neither would trade for the world.

"She likes to help people, and she likes to help me too," said James.

"You know, I really don't think it's just about me. Like I said, Toriah works really hard and if I was making an effort and she wasn't making as much of an effort and succeeding as much as she was, it wouldn't be as much of an impact,” said Haury.

Haury worked as a Big Sister in Decatur for three years, and has been working with James since she moved back to the Twin Cities. She's also on the regional board for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
