PEORIA – Bradley University’s graduate school is attracting a lot more international students.

The school received 794 applications from interested international students for its Fall 2014 semester.

According to Dr. Jeff Bakken, the Dean of the Graduate School, only 408 international students applied for Fall 2013.

They used new recruitment tactics for the upcoming school year which seems to be yielding great results.

Dr. Bakken says they took a more proactive approach.

“In the past we have never traveled to recruit students, we just i guess, hoped they would come,” explained Bakken. “I found out that a lot of institutions did do this, and have been doing it for sometimes 10 to 20 years."

The graduate school also reached out current students studying at Bradley for their feedback. Bakken says his office wants to make sure students are having a smooth transition period.

They say diversity is a vital part of Bradley University’s atmosphere.
