WASHINGTON - The Central Illinois Team Hope Walk in Washington raised nearly $91,000 for Huntington’s Disease research.
It easily passed the organizers' original goal of raising $25,000.
The event raised $16,000 from its silent auction on the day of the race.
It was the first year for the fundraiser, which supports the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
The HDSA puts on fundraisers across the country.
And out of all their walks, the one in Central Illinois raised the second most amount of money.
Organizers of the event also received a lot of support from the Nights of Columbus, as it provided food for the event.
