The McLean County Property Committee approved a deal with Chestnut Health Systems to move into the county-owned Fairview campus in Normal.
The deal goes to county board for ultimate approval. If it passes, Chestnut would take over the building, which the county was no longer using.
Board members say it will make McLean County a model for the rest of the state.
"Again, we're talking about mental illness, disability, those people who have difficulty finding the proper place to care for their needs. I think that's what that's going to do for McLean County,” said property committee chairman Paul Segobiano.
The final details of a lease agreement would still need to be ironed out, but board members say it would likely last between 20 and 25 years.
