PEORIA – An Illinois advocacy group is releasing new data analyzing child health trends across the state.
The Illinois Kids Count Report for 20-14 was completed by the non-profit group Voices for Illinois Children.
On Thursday, the Center for Youth and Family Solutions held a session to discuss what to do to improve some of the negative findings.
Executive Director Trish Fox said insurance access in the tri-county area is up, but our area has some areas of concern. She said, “Some of the things that we need to pay attention to as a community and we need to continue to address our poverty rates, our teen births, child abuse and neglect, some of those are areas where Peoria statistics are higher than the state average."
Fox said state funding continues to be a problem. Lawmakers are considering a budget which would cut another $2.3 billion from health and human services and education.
