PEORIA - A fifth grader at Lincoln School in Peoria is in critical condition at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pick-up truck this morning.

Police say the child, who is believed to be about 11-years-old, was hit on northeast Monroe between Mary and Caroline Street.

Police say the boy ran out between a CityLink bus and a car, and he was then hit by the pick-up truck.

CPR was done at the scene, before the boy was taken to children’s hospital.

The driver of the pick-up truck was taken down to the police station for questioning, but he has not been ticketed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
