The foundation announced that Kathie Brown, along with a team of her fellow teachers, were the winners of this year's $10,000 "Beyond the Box" grant.
Brown presented a proposal entitled "Big Designs by Little Scientists."
Out of a 104 applicants, her propasal was chosen as the winner.
The school plans to use the money to purchase science kits that will focus on hands-on experiments.
Kathie Brown, a second grade teacher at Colene Hoose, says she's thrilled to have the opportunity to help her students grow.
"I think it provides a fabulous learning opportunity for the students in the classroom and for other kids in the school. I am just so excited. It's just a surprise to be a part of this."
Brown hopes to implement the new science kits at the start of the new school year next fall.
