BLOOMINGTON - Union laborers and construction workers in the twin cities are pleading for congress to fund infrastructure.

The Laborers' International Union of North America joined construction workers and politicians at a rally in normal today.

They want congress to transfer more than ten billion dollars to the depleted highway trust fund, which supports infrastructure across the country.

If congress doesn't support the fund, the union says more than fifty thousand workers will lose their jobs.

“Congressman Davis said today they are going to fix that on a band aid issue only. We need a long term repair. Our bridges are in dire need. Our sewer systems are in dire need,” said LiUNA Midwest Regional Vice President John Penn

The White House is expected to take a vote on the Highway Trust Fund Bill next week.
