It’s part of the “Courageous Pacers Program.”
Students exercised throughout the school year to achieve these goals. The program started several years ago with special needs students, but has grown over the years to included kids from throughout the district. “Courageous Pacers” encourages kids to become more active which could also help them in the classroom.
“When it comes to learning and academic achievement, there's a lot of research that correlates fitness level, movement to positive outcomes to these factors,” said District 150 Physical Therapist Stephanie Zutter.
Program organizers hope more schools will join the “Courageous Pacers Program” in the future.
