Early Morning Car Crash Kills a Peoria Woman

PEORIA - A 48-year-old woman is pronounced dead after being taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center following a fatal two-car collision early this morning.

The accident took place on Sterling Ave. near Westminister Ave. just before 6:00 A.M. Police say the woman and her four-year-old female passenger were traveling Southbound on Sterling when they were hit from behind by a BMW. Her young passenger was tra
nsported to OSF St. Francis with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old male driving the BMW was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Peoria Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the accident. The say it appears that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the accident. The driver of the BMW was arrested for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence and transported to Peoria County Jail after being released from the hospital. 

The woman's name is Doris King. The driver is unregistered Jefferey Steele.
