Easter Seals held a roundtable discussion with 17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos on how it can receive federal grants.
1 in 88 children are diagnosed with autism.
Easter Seals says it needs extra funding to help with the increasing demand, especially in early intervention.
"We're pretty good, as far as making sure there's money for research, but then, there is this huge gap," said Congresswoman Bustos. "What happens when you discover that 1 in 88 kids is diagnosed with autism? You need to help."
Congresswoman Bustos says she will now go back to the Autism Caucus in Washington to see what aid Easter Seals can receive.
And if you want to help the children of Easter Seals you can donate to the telethon.
It's this Saturday, March 1st.
It airs right here on WMBD at 6PM.
