The Town of Normal is saying goodbye to a historic former leader.
According to our news partner WJBC Radio, 83-year-old Carol Reitan died last night.
Reitan was the only woman to ever serve as the mayor of Normal.
She served from 1972 to 1976, but continued to work in the community after that.
The conference center at the uptown Marriott was named for her in 2012.
Those who knew her say she was always thinking of how to improve the Town of Normal.
