The “Helping All Relationships to be Safe” or “HARTS” program created good bags full of hygienic items.
They included a pair of men’s socks, washcloths, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, water bottles and meal coupons.
The bags also included notes of encouragement written by the girls and were delivered to the Salvation Army on Thursday, then distributed to homeless men in Peoria.
“HARTS” is made up of girls in grades sixth through twelve and is sponsored by The Center For Prevention of Abuse.
“I felt good because some of these people don't have support from other people and when we gave it to them, they were all happy and smiling and really happy and it just made me feel happy to be able to do that for them,” said Eighth Grader at Bartonville School Shelby Sims.
HARTS gives girls the tools they need to form healthy relationships with their friends and family.
