As part of their 20th anniversary, the museum is trying something new.
For the first time, the museum will be waiving the attendance fees for all student tours.
As a way to cover costs, the museum has launched its fund drive.
In just a few days the museum has raised over $2,000 allowing 400 kids to attend the walk free of charge.
However, the history museum is still looking for the community's help to cover the cost for over 1,500 students.
"A five dollar fee may not seem like an exorbitant amount of money but if five dollars stands between a child attending the walk or a classroom of children attending the walk the fee is too great," said Hannah Johnson, Education Program Coordinator with the Mclean County Museum of History.
By waiving the fee, more students than ever will be able to participate in the walk this fall.
