This year, Home Sweet Home Ministries and OSF teamed up to collect more than 4,100 pairs of shoes.
That's nearly 600 more than last year. The 12th annual shoe drive finished up on Friday, and on Monday the shoes were dropped off at Home Sweet Home's warehouse in Bloomington. From there, they'll be processed and sent to mission marts in Lincoln and Bloomington.
"That generosity just seems to grow upon itself, and I think that we're especially grateful to OSF for promoting this shoe drive and really enlisting the community behind it,” said Mary Ann Pullin, CEO for HSH.
Even the shoes that weren't in perfect condition will be able to be salvaged for rubber. The money will go toward supporting Home Sweet Home's ministries across the area.
