TAZEWELL COUNTY - The Illinois Department of Transportation has closed another interstate ramp and it's a closure that will last for several months.

The ramp carrying I-155 northbound traffic to eastbound I-74 will remain closed through November.

IDOT says the closure is necessary for the construction of a new ramp.

Motorists should take the detour onto I-74 West to the Pinecrest Avenue interchange at exit 98 in East Peoria.

Then drive back onto I-74 East.

The project is part of the complete reconstruction of I-74 from Pleasant Hill Road to Morton Avenue in Tazewell County.

Brian Williamsen, an IDOT Spokesperson says, “If you look now, you can see it. They've already begun digging up the old ramp. The new ramp is going to be a wider turn. So, a little more room to get onto eastbound 74 there and a little more visibility over your shoulder there as you come onto 74.”

IDOT asks drivers to slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
