Local politicians are giving their thoughts on the crisis in Iraq.

IL 16th District Representative Adam Kinzinger stated in a release today that we must act decisively if we hope to prevent more chaos throughout the region.

He also goes on to say, "It is time for President Obama to order air and drone strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, (also known as ISIS forces) and deploy special operations teams to work with our Iraqi allies to strategically strike the enemy where they are most vulnerable.

The congressman goes on to say, “the president has missed this opportunity before, and it is time he learns from his mistakes before it is too late."

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois is also expressing his concern on the escalating violence in Iraq.

He says while he's worried about what's happening he's also worried about the thousands of American soldiers killed and injured troops returning home.

"Before there's a commitment in us or any forces, we’ve got to think twice. No military forces, as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to over flights of American military air craft and vulnerization of our pilots. I’m not one to sign up for that at this point. I want to see leadership from Iraq finally take responsibility for its own country.”
