One state government group added a few new members today.
Governor Pat Quinn signed off on the expansion of the Illinois Holocaust and Genocide Commission, allowing the group to add four new members.
There are now 22 members in the commission working with Holocaust survivors to increase public awareness about the tragedy and other genocides.
Illinois is known for supporting Holocaust awareness.
It became the first state to require Holocaust history classes in its public school system in 2011.
