Illinois State University Names Interim VP of Student Affairs

BLOOMINGTON - Illinois State University has a named an interim Vice President of Student Affairs today.

Former Senior Associate Vice President Brent Paterson will take over the position. The spot was left vacant following Larry Dietz’s departure to take over as President of the University on March 22nd.

“Brent works in the heart of our campus and he’s always kept the needs of students at the forefront of his decisions,” President Larry Dietz said in a press release. “He’s committed to doing whatever he can to enhance the college experience, whether that’s through his leadership, mentoring or development of his staff. He’s an important part of our team.”

Paterson has worked with Illinois State since 2001, leaving his position of 17 years with student affairs at Texas A&M University for ISU.

He has had oversight of the Bone Student Center, Campus Dining Service, Campus Recreation, University Housing Services and University Police.

Paterson received a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Denver, master’s in counseling from the University of Memphis and a bachelor’s in education from Lambuth College.
