The Illinois Supreme Court decided Thursday not to hear an appeal from a group pushing term limits and reform in Illinois. However, in a news release, the group, Term Limits and Reform Committee remains optimistic the appellate court will rule in their favor of allowing Illinois citizens to vote on term limits and reform in the November election. Having gathered nearly 600,000 signatures from across the state, the group believes that establishes that Illinois residents want a say in setting term limits for lawmakers. Friday, the Committee for Legislative Reform and Term Limits will file a motion for an accelerated schedule in the appellate court in order for the case to be heard in time before the August deadlines for ballot certification.
