PEORIA - You can expect a minor traffic change when driving near the Bradley campus.

The City of Peoria is installing four lighted crosswalks near the campus at Bradley and University.

It is the last phase of the Main and University project.

The department is closing down a section of Sanger Street running between Adams and Jefferson while they do work on the road.

City officials expect closures to last about four weeks.

This is the first time Peoria has put up lighted crosswalks.

"Pedestrians can come up, they hit a button and the lights shine up from the pavement to draw attention to them. So that when a pedestrian crosses folks know that they're there,” said City Engineer Scott Reeise.

City officials hope the crosswalks will be finished by the time students are back on campus.
