Starting Monday, May 5th, there will be intermittent lane closures at Columbia Terrace and University Street in Peoria for work on the corners at the bump outs. Traffic should expect delays throughout the week because of the lane closures. Avoid traveling in this area, if possible. Motorists should follow posted detour routes. Meantime, Business 24 (Peoria Street) in Washington will be CLOSED at the railroad viaduct just west of Wood Street beginning Monday, May 5th and continuing for about three weeks. This closure is necessary for crews to replace pavement along Business 24 at the viaduct. Washington Square will not be accessible from eastbound Business 24 during this time. The City of Washington has specified a preferred route for local delivery trucks during this road closure. These vehicles should use N. Cummings Lane, Cruger Road and Main Street; passenger vehicles have no local route restrictions. Through traffic is encouraged to use Route 24 while the work is being completed.
