NORMAL - Illinois State University had a bit of a scare with Sunday’s heat. Fifteen members of the big red marching machine were treated for heat-related illness yesterday in Normal.

The band had scheduled a promotional photo shoot months before at Hancock Stadium, and was going to take the pictures in their full uniforms before practice, but before that could happen, about half a dozen members were taken to local hospitals, and the rest treated on site.

"We don't like to see this sort of thing happen, but there were a lot of resources in place to deal with it, and certainly we're very glad that it didn't escalate into something much worse,” said ISU spokesman Eric Jome.

All of the band members are fine now. Ambulances from Bloomington, Normal and Hudson all helped out.
