As part of the Save a Child program, nearly 30 kids, mostly from the south side of Peoria, grabbed some gloves and trash bags today.
They cleaned up the area, start on Matthew Street.
Forrest Holcomb started the program nearly a year ago to honor his son who committed suicide.
“I want the kids to know that somebody cares,” Holcomb said. “If you have some problems, whatever, you can come and talk to somebody.”
Holcomb said he is having the kids pick up trash around the area to show support for the community. He said that way, the community can help support the Save a Child organization.
