An energy bill, introduced by Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, passed the U S House Monday. The Thermal Insulation Efficiency Improvement Act directs the Department of Energy to study the potential savings created by using thermal insulation for energy and water systems in federal buildings. Kinzinger's bill aims to reduce energy waste through cost effective measures. Kinzinger says estimates show thermal insulation saves up to 500 times more in energy costs over its lifespan than the initial costs, translating into significant returns on energy efficiency investments.
