NORMAL- A circus accident in Providence, Rhode Island is hitting close to home for Gamma Phi Circus performers at Illinois State University.

Federal investigators are trying to figure out what went wrong at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.

A clamp may have snapped during Sunday's performance, sending eight acrobats crashing to the ground.

All the injured are expected to recover.

In light of Sunday's scary experience, Gamma Phi Circus director says safety is always a main priority.

"It's always something that is a little bit in the back of your mind. You always want to make sure you're focused. That you're in the best condition you can be so that even if something does happen, you're able to recover quickly from it," said Marcus Alouan, Gamma Phi Circus Director.

At Gamma Phi Circus, the director always encourages his students to double check all equipment before performing.
