NORMAL - When it comes to healing, a local woman is putting fashion forward.

Melissa Ash is making scarves for the cure.

She’s been sewing for years.

Recently Ash decided her passion could be used for a greater good.

So, she's selling handmade scarves for $18.

All proceeds will be given to the Community Cancer Center in Normal which is currently in the process of a multi-million dollar expansion.

Ash says the scarves are a great way to generate extra revenue for the cause.

“People love wearing them and it feels good to give back.  I normally wouldn’t be able to give as much money as I have in just what I make.  It feels good,” said Ash.

Last year the scarves generated $3,000 for the American Cancer Society.
