BLOOMINGTON - Several McLean County churches are teaming up for an annual back to school bash.

Saturday morning, the parking lot of First Christian Church in Bloomington will be transformed into a carnival. It's the 16th straight year the church has hosted it.

Every year, families come to play games and listen to music, but church leaders say the best part is giving out school supply kits to neighborhood children.

"Anybody can come and because all really does mean all. It's an opportunity for everybody to get school kits and supplies that the children desperately need," said Kelley Becker, associate pastor of First Christian Church.

The block party starts at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Becker says entertainment will begin for those waiting in line before 8 a.m. Raffles for backpacks, bicycles and other prizes will be held throughout the day.

Each year the event has been at First Christian. This year, donations and volunteers are also coming from Centennial Christian, Christ Church, Historic St. Patrick's, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Second Presbyterian, and Trinity Lutheran.
