METAMORA - The telecommunications department at the Illinois State Police Post in Metamora is moving to Pontiac.

The dispatch center will consolidate with three other districts. The move shifts the workers about 45 miles east to the Pontiac post.

The Illinois State Police Spokeswman, Monique Bond, says the changes were announced last year. Bond says the consolidation aims to ease budget constraints and improve internal communication.

She says no job cuts are expected and the move will should be complete by the end of summer.

Dispatchers from Pesotum and Ashkum will also move to Pontiac.
