PEORIA - A new exhibit is now open at the Caterpillar Visitors Center that is rich in history.

“Power Parades of the Past” used to be an hour long demonstration showcasing the newest Caterpillar machines.

It featured machines dumping, loading, hauling and grading in unison.

The first one was in 1964 and there have been five parades since.

Those who used to work the parade say this exhibit is a good substitute for the real thing.

“It gives the newer people just a glance at yester-year, and possibly in the coming years, we’ll have another Power Parade. And they’ll be just as excited as all of us were,” Ken Gerber, host at the visitors center, said.

The new exhibit features old footage, a documentary, photos, scale models and other memorabilia.

Tickets can be purchased at the center or at their website.
