PEORIA – Governor Pat Quinn joined other Central Illinois leaders, Friday morning, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the heartland community health clinic headquarters.

The new Peoria hub for the clinic is the result of a $500,000 state grant. The governor supports this investment which was pushed by Illinois Sen. Dave Koehler.

Governor Quinn spoke at the event, saying that everyone deserves access to decent health care.

WMBD talked to the clinic CEO, Farrell Davies, who says this new administrative space frees up more area to better cater to its patients.

"This allows us to serve even more patients to provide primary care to people who maybe in the past have not had access to primary care. And, it also allows us to be more efficient to our staff all to be together in one building so we can give the best possible care to our patients."

Heartland Health Clinic also celebrated its 10th anniversary on Friday.
