PEORIA - City officials in Peoria are looking into the request for a management change at the Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette.
The hotel developer, EM Properties, asked the city if it could use a new management company for The Pere and The Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Peoria.
As part of the city's redevelopment agreement with those hotels, the city loaned the development company $7 million.
The city took over the assignment of the management company's contract.
In order to make a change, EM Poperties requires city council approval.
That's what city officials are working to decide.
"We have to do our homework and look into the company and see if there's any questions the council has about the company and the different hotels they operate through the Midwest. Then were also going to talk with all the other lenders about the project to make sure every one is on the same page," says Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich.
Urich says there's questions like: what would happen to the hotels employees?
The Peoria City Council will take up the issue at it's meeting next week.
