On Friday, the Normal Walmart cut the ribbon on its remodeled interior, showing off 12 weeks of work.
Then, store leaders passed out $8,500 worth of checks to different community organizations. Many of the grant dollars came from corporate, but others were raised by employees throughout the project.
"They've done a lot more beyond just the check, you know, which is great. It helps the program grow and you're able to serve more of the kids, make more of the matches, so they get the mentor in the community,” said John Holaway, Big Brothers Big Sisters community partnership manager.
Store officials say their next big donation will be for Children's Miracle Network. They hope to raise $17,000.
