Police Chief Rick Bleichner says that back in April, Sergeant Rob Cherry and Officer Rob Muckey were responding to a burglary attempt, when they found a suspect had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and back.
The officers shifted into first aid mode until the man was life-flighted to a hospital.
Bleichner says the man was saved thanks to their quick thinking.
"Their quick action, their quick response was consistent and exemplified the department's core values and their quick actions were worthy of our award," added Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner.
Along with the award, the officers were given a ribbon to wear on their uniforms.
The department gives these awards out on an annual basis.
