PEORIA – The 26th Annual Duck Race is just over a week away, and organizers hope to top last year's success.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse puts on the event each year.

You can buy as many rubber ducks as you’d like.  They're $5 and the proceeds benefit thousands of people looking to find safety and support from violence and abuse.

“The ultimate goal would be 30,000 ducks,” said Carla Payne. Payne is one of the organizers from the Center for Prevention of Abuse.

“Last year we sold out at about 25,000. We really believe that we can sell out at 30,000 this year. So, that's what we're really hoping for and we just hope that the community can back us up with that.”

The “hatching party” is this Friday.
