On Friday, OSF-St. Joseph officially unveiled its new sleep center to the public. The center treats patients dealing with sleep apnea, insomnia and a variety of other conditions.
Doctors have been treating patients both in long- and short-term studies, and filling the beds most evenings. The move to 2411 Washington comes after its lease expired across town.
and with so many patients using the facility, a replacement building was needed immediately.
"We see patients with sleep disorders six nights a week, six patients each night for the past 11 years and there's no end in sight at this point,” said Brian McDonald, director of the sleep center for OSF.
Many of the sleep studies are conducted over multiple nights. McDonald says anyone looking to use the sleep center can get an appointment through a referral from their primary physician.
