HANNA CITY - A new road sign has a special meaning to the Logan-Trivoli Fire District.

The firehouse today dedicated part of Route 116 that runs through their district. They dedicated it to their former assistant chief Brian Hauk.

Hauk was killed in 1997 while responding to a fire all.

His friends and family were on tap today to honor him, and they said he would do anything for his job, even miss family gatherings, which was fitting today when the dedication was interrupted by a fire call.

“He just, he could think on his feet. You always felt safe with him, and he thought about not only the people he was helping, but also his comrades to make sure that they were kept safe while they were on call,” Tina Hauk, Brian’s widow, said.

Hauk worked for the first district for 15 years as he climbed his way up the ranks. He had only been assistant chief for six months when he was killed.
