Pekin Girl Struck by Vehicle

PEKIN - Pekin Police responded to the intersection of 14th and Koch street on the city’s south side at 2:58pm for a child hit by a car.

A 10 year old female was waiting to cross 14th street when motioned to cross by a vehicle who was stopped in the center turn lane waiting to turn onto Koch St. The driver who waved the girl across was unaware of a car travelling North bound next to them.

The vehicle travelling north bound struck the girl as she crossed the street. The girl was thrown over 40 feet in the air, where she landed on grass in a nearby yard.

The 10 year old female was transported to OSF in Peoria and her condition is unknown at this time. Names of the driver as well as the victim are not available yet. No tickets have been issued.
