PEKIN - Pekin residents got a chance to travel around the world today, while just staying inside one city block.

The Pekin Human's Right Committee hosted the first ever Diversity Festival on the 300 block of Court Street Saturday.

Different ethnic groups got a chance to show off a little bit of their culture.

It featured different food, music, and dancing.

The Human Rights Committee wanted to show, especially children, that opening up to different cultures helps bring more acceptance.

Michele Moul of the Pekin Human Rights Committee said, "This is an opportunity to help educate our children, and with that education, we hope that love is much easier than hate, that we're going to expand the love, the acceptance, the peace in our area."

The Pekin Human Rights Committee has been around for nearly a decade,
