PEORIA - The City of Peoria is ready to tackle businesses finding loopholes in the new video gambling ordinance.

The City Council started serious talks on video gambling cafes in a policy session at Monday night's meeting.

These are establishments whose main purpose is video gambling and not food and liquor.

The Council is looking at two options: One is to halt approvals of any such business; the other is to approve them, with certain regulations.

Those include limiting them to four per council district and to limit video gambling sales to only 75% of the establishments total revenue.

The Council will vote on the item at a later meeting.
