PEORIA - Twelve point five million dollars, that's the deficit facing Peoria District 150 in the proposed 2014-2015 school budget released today.
The budget projects operating expenses of 150-point seven million dollars while seeing revenues of only 138-point two million.  Last year's deficit was five point eight million dollars.
District spokesperson Chris Coplan says the larger deficit is a result of cuts in federal and state funding.
Coplan says the district must submit a budget reduction plan that totals nearly one-point-one million dollars before this budget can be approved next month.
The proposed budget will be presented at Monday's school board meeting.
