PEORIA - One area non-profit is trying to help out the East Bluff by earning a national grant.

The Peoria Opportunities Foundation would use a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance to create outdoor murals in the neighborhood.

They would also build a handful of small, free libraries.

They would also put up an information kiosk and a pocket park.

The POF is competing against 200 other entries for the money.

And can only win it if its proposal is voted as one the top twenty-five online.

“We’ll get input from people who live here. Get some kids to help in the actual painting. The little free libraries are a wonderful thing which we will stock with books that have been donated,” said Jane Genzel, Executive Director of the Peoria Opportunities Foundation.

The Peoria Opportunities Foundation is currently in 87th place. To vote for its entry, visit
