The Peoria Park District is getting a much needed upgrade.
The organization moves into a new space today, the Bonnie W. Noble Center for Park District Administration, formerly the Lakeview Museum.
The park district says this is a move ten years in the making.
It finally came after a $2.75 million renovation.
"I think this is a wonderful move for the Park District. We had so many people in a building that was built in 1984. We outgrew it years ago. All of the pieces had to fall into place before we could really move. I think this is a wonderful site and we are still in a park," said Bonnie Noble, Executive Director.
The Peoria Playhouse will be moving into the Glen Oak Pavilion where the park district used to be.
Peoria Playhouse plans to renovate the space.
It needs to reach 90% of their funding goal before beginning.
Funding is currently at 86%.
