A decorated Peoria police officer who was just acquitted of criminal sexual assault earlier this month is facing a new criminal complaint.

Officer John McCavitt was arrested last Friday night.

According to court records McCavitt was charged Sunday with unauthorized video taping.

He was released on $100,000 bond.

Police say the alleged incident occurred last year at McCavitt’s residence in Peoria, but didn’t’ reveal any further details.

Police say the arrest comes as a result of criminal evidence uncovered during an internal investigation into the off-duty activities of McCavitt.

Police say McCavitt is on administrative leave pending the conclusion of this current criminal investigation and internal investigation.
