A Peoria man was charged Wednesday after allegedly putting a scare into some Roanoke residents early Tuesday. 32 year old Mitchell Simmons is charged with home invasion and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Those charges stem from an incident which began in the 800 block of Front Street Tuesday morning. A second homeowner reported a young man broke into his home and was standing in the kitchen holding a shotgun. Police claim when they arrested Simmons he had a shotgun, a nine millimeter handgun and a machete. No one was hurt in the incident. Simmons, whose bond was set a quarter million dollars is back in court next month.
