The reason: a late 1800s brick sewer manhole partially collapsed. The bricks were falling down into the bottom of the hole. So, crews shut down the street and are replacing it.
But that repair could keep the section of Clinton Street closed until Saturday night. In the meantime, traffic is rerouted down Locust Street.
