PEORIA - If a biohazard emergency hit the Peoria area, emergency responders are ready for action.

Local emergency personnel from Peoria City and County along with the FBI and area health organizations are playing out an emergency scenario.

They performed a poisonous substance drill at the Peoria Post Office Processing and Distribution facility.

They simulated steps agencies would take during an emergency, from first response to getting out public information.

They say it's a reminder to always be on your toes.

“We get in our own comfort zone in our day-to-day job, and we need to be prepared for what to do, in case of such an emergency.  There are so many different agencies involved to have face time with them, to actually interact with the different agencies,” says Michael Clark of the USPS.

The organizations will evaluate their performance and find ways to improce in case of a real emergency.
